The DVD edition contains 42 film records from the pioneering period of film in Macedonia and the Balkans.

It is, perhaps, a kind of paradox that an art such as film, which is based on a developed technical base, came to life so early in a predominantly undeveloped environment, such as the Macedonian one at the beginning of the 20th century. But at the same time, it should be emphasized that at the beginning of the century in Macedonia, as a crossroads between East and West, not only capital, but also people with new ideas began to circulate. The Manaki brothers realized their epoch-making film experiment in Bitola, which at that time was a European city in the true sense, with its native architecture, with its consular institutions, but also with European ideas and people living and acting in this Balkan metropolis at that time.

This DVD edition is a collection of the complete recording (author’s) work (realized with a film camera produced by the company “Charles Urban Trading” and that is the 300th copy of the BIOSCOPE series) of the Manaki brothers that began at the beginning of the 20th century and ended sometime before the Second World War.
