Petrovski Meto

(Ivanchishta, 23.5.1935) He is a film and television director and cameraman. He graduated from the Film School in Belgrade from the Department for Film Cameramen. After one-year’s practice in “Vardar Film, at an open competition of the Council for Culture of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia he was awarded a grant for studies at the Film Institute in Zagreb – Directing Department. Parallely he studied directing and world and Yugoslav literature at the Zagreb University. As a director he debued with the documentary film “Migrations” in 1965. He made over 60 documentary and short films presented at many domestic and world festivals. He participated at the Film Festival in Cannes with his documentary film “Virovo”. Besides his film work, he made over 30 television shows, some of which should be pointed out: “Five Revolutionaries”, “The Expulsion of Jews from Bitola”, “Roll-Call on White Stone” and the show “What Used to Be Sky”. In 1987, the show “Birth of the Mural” was acclaimed to be the best show of Yugoslav Radio Television in its genre. He is a winner of many awards and much recognition: “Gold Medal” for the film “Golgotha” at the Belgrade Festival, “Silver Medal” for the film “Vraneshtica” in Belgrade and “Bronze Medal” for the film “Treacherous Force” at the same festival, then “Bronze Dragon” in Krakow for the film “Golgotha”.
