Only the prologue and the first part of it have been preserved. The text is divided into pictures, and the action is occasionally explained by subtitles. The exact time of its writing is not known, although certain indications lead to 1919 at the latest.<\/P><P>The prologue starts with an impressive description of realistic scenes of the Turkish invasion of the Balkans. In the next picture, by turn of events, the action becomes an explication of surrealistic images inspired by the Krali Marko myth. The myth hero Krali Marko jumps with his horse from fields to mountains, from mountains to towns (Pelister - Prilep)... He roams across his ruined and unfortunate land, until he meets God and realizes that he has lost his power. Realizing this, he asks God to put him into a five centuries long sleep. Identifying Krali Marko with the destiny of the nation, he makes a clear allusion to the time of the Turkish slavery.<\/P><P>The first part of the screenplay time, is situated in the 19th century, and it starts with the search of two travellers for Krali Marko\"s grave. Crossing the Stogovo mountain, they reach the village of Kresnec, where the rich man Gjuro, holds a luxurious wedding ceremony. This is actually a counterpoint to the prologue. The music bands, the traditional dances, the picturesque and joyful atmosphere of the wedding customs, suggest an optimistic mood awakening of the new life. Afterwards, through narrative degression, the scriptwriter introduces us to the life of the main character - Gjuro, as a successful man with an emphasized education and liberation feeling for his people. Apart from helping some poor individuals, he takes action for the common good of the people, building and organizing schools, buying bells for the churches etc. Yet, faith is not on his side. One after another, his children die. In the following stage, the action gets back to reality again, and through a dynamic change of events and scenes, it shows the troubles and the dramatic battle for life of the last of Gjuro\"s children, Vojdan. This suspense ends happily. After this, we can see Vojdan as a young boy, left to the hypocritical care of his governess. Growing in such an environment makes him mature very quickly. Confronting the evil boys of his age, he becomes a protector of his girl friend.<\/P><P>The script of Areseni Jovkov is written in a folk drama style. This particular script, and the one written for the documentary \"<a href=\"\/film\/adam-5-to-12\/50\">Macedonia<\/a>\" (1923), show that Jovkov had a feeling for the film medium and that he knew the rules of film aesthetics and shaping up of the visual material.<\/P><P>In Veles, at the \"Ada Kafezi Inn\" Gjoka Mihajlovic and Joca Dimitrievic opened the regular cinema \"Bioscop Casina\".","chronology_gallery":null},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
